Swifts Creek also has an excellent Bush Nursing Centre and manned Police Station. The town has a population of 300 and boasts one of Victoria's best 9 hole Golf Courses. The Regional Tourist Centre of Omeo where gold was first discovered in the area in 1851 is a pleasant 15 min drive and the whole Omeo Region with its "Living Heritage" offers the family a vast range of activities. Have a look at the unique Wineries, Galleries, and Bookshops and the Australian Bush which surrounds you.

The Miners Cottages are found near the historic township of Cassilis, named after a small township in Scotland. In the 1800's at the peak of the gold boom, it was once a thriving mining center home to more than 500 people. The demanding 9 hole course, is set in a mature pine plantation surrounded by picturesque native mountains. With Junction Creek meandering down the valley the course is one of the finest in Gippsland.

Situated only a short drive from The Miners Cottages, the Swifts Creek Recreation Reserve boasts some great facilities. These include: full length football oval, cricket pitch, four tennis courts, netball court, children's slide, toilets, water fountain, club rooms.

After a hot day there's nothing like cooling off in a pool - and the Swifts Creek Pool is only moments away in the town center of Swifts Creek. The pool consists of a 6 lane 50m long main pool and a shaded and heated toddler pool. Staffed by volunteers in the summer months and is usually open between 9am and 5pm from December to March.

The Great Alpine Gallery Inc. was opened in October 1998 by artists living in the Omeo and Swifts Creek. The have created an exhibition venue which displays and sells locally artwork.
Some of the featured artists include: John Butler, Deidre Jack, Ann Bingham and Margaret Lomas.
